DisplayPort Overview Slide 4
DisplayPort was designed to interoperate with older standards such as DVI, VGA and HDMI, and provides technical guidelines that ensure robust implementation and seamless interoperability from the user’s perspective. NXP solutions play an important role in this interoperability, by providing companion chips that translate between DisplayPort and VGA, DVI or HDMI electrical signaling either on the motherboard or in external adapters; and allowing switching between DisplayPort and PCI Express connectors using high-bandwidth multiplexers on the motherboard.
