DisplayPort Overview Slide 2
DisplayPort is the latest evolving standard supported by VESA that will change the way customers interconnect displays around the computer. It is a high-bandwidth robust digital link capable of transporting the highest display resolutions of today and far into the future. DisplayPort is architected for compatibility to older standards such as DVI and HDMI, and due to its attractively small size and high capability, can ultimately replace the DVI and VGA connectors. Over time DisplayPort will also replace the internal LVDS interface between notebook chipsets and the LCD panel. DisplayPort solutions including computers, graphic cards, and cables became available in 2008 while display devices such as monitors became available in 2009.
