TWA® capacitors can be used in high current systems (those with many amps of pulse durations of fractions of a millisecond to hundreds of milliseconds where current pulses are supplied by the capacitor. Traditionally, the energy source used for data retention is a primary or a rechargeable battery. The TWA® can be placed in parallel with a battery where, if the instrumentation is dropped and the battery loses contact momentarily, the capacitor can provide the resulting large current pulse and prevent data from being lost. In many applications, loss of data means that the device keeps working but will have to be reset.
